ABOUT MXL PARTNERS
We install the sales system your best people already run.
MXL Partners is a sales systems firm. We turn the way your best people sell into a playbook, CRM rules, AI context, and a manager cadence the whole team runs. We work with owner-led and PE-backed companies between $10M and $250M in revenue.
WHAT MXL PARTNERS DOES
Five things, in order.
01
The Scorecard Diagnostic (Phase 1).
A 30-day diagnostic. We survey every role, interview your sellers and leaders, and review your deal records, backlog, budgets, and plans. Leadership gets a board-ready readout, a Buy-In Index, the first few moves in order, and a priced path to install. It costs $15,000 and credits in full toward your first install.
02
Skill installs (Phase 2).
Each skill is a fixed-scope install against one named problem: cross-sell, discovery and qualification, competitive positioning, new-rep ramp, post-acquisition foundation, stages and forecasting, account prioritization, and messaging. Every install sets one metric on day one and re-scores it each quarter. Installs are priced from the diagnostic, because the scope depends on what the evidence supports.
03
AI-enabled delivery.
We write your playbook into the tools your team already uses: AI context files, practice simulations, call scoring, coaching guides, outbound sequences, and CRM rules. Your AI tools then work from your real process instead of guessing.
04
Manager cadence and quarterly re-scoring.
We run live working sessions on your accounts and set up the weekly manager rhythm. Each quarter we re-score the system against the baseline so it holds through growth, new hires, and a change of ownership.
05
A free assessment.
A self-assessment across six areas: Strategy & ICP, Process & Playbook, Talent & Ramp, Data Systems & AI, Comp & Accountability, and Leadership & Culture. It shows where you stand before any call.
WHAT MAKES MXL PARTNERS DIFFERENT
Five things we will not do differently.
We install, we do not just train.
Most sales training firms run a workshop and leave. We put the process into your CRM, your AI tools, and your managers’ weekly routine, and we stay until the team runs it without us. Buyers often compare us to Sandler, Winning by Design, and Force Management. Those firms teach a method. We extract and install yours.
We start from your best people, not a generic method.
The playbook comes from interviews with your top performers and from your own deal records. You end up with your own way of selling, written down, instead of someone else’s framework.
Scored on what runs.
Every engagement has a baseline score and a quarterly re-score. You can see whether the system is actually in use, not whether a deck was delivered.
Buy-in gates the work.
We decline engagements where leadership alignment is missing or the organization has no capacity for more change. A mandate without buy-in produces compliance, not installation, and it helps neither side.
Built for AI that has something real to work from.
AI on a messy CRM speeds up the mess. We set stages, exit criteria, and next steps first, so forecasting and outreach tools have clean inputs.

THE TEAM
Two people, thirty-five years of field work.

Mike Griego, Founder.
Mike founded MXL in 1991 as a sales effectiveness firm, after 35 years in high-tech sales at IBM, XL/Datacomp/StorageTek, Dataquest/Gartner, Zona/IntelliQuest, and Workshare. He holds an MBA from Stanford GSB and is the author of three books on selling, including 42 Rules to Increase Sales Effectiveness and No Excuses! A Better Way to Sell.
Ryan Derfler, Partner and Chief Operating Officer.
Ryan builds MXL’s AI-enabled delivery layer: practice simulations, coaching guides, outbound engines, CRM discipline, and KPI scorecards. He has served as fractional CRO across the Talus portfolio and as GTM Advisor at Perpetuate Capital.

HOW MXL PARTNERS WORKS
Start small. Install what the evidence supports.
Start with the 3-minute assessment or a fit call. If there is a fit, the Scorecard Diagnostic is the usual first engagement. It runs 30 days from kickoff to readout and is delivered by MXL directly, never by a partner firm. Skills then install one at a time, in the order the evidence supports, with live working sessions on your real accounts. Leadership attends the kickoff and the readout. Each quarter we re-score against the baseline.
ENGAGEMENT SHAPE
30 to 90 day sprints. Many clients stack installs and ongoing support into 12-month tranches.
HOW WE WORK TOGETHER
Primarily virtual, with on-site sessions where they earn their place.
WHO DELIVERS
MXL directly. Diagnostics are never subcontracted.

Questions we get before the first call.
Is MXL a sales training company?
Training is part of the work, but it is not the product. We install the system your team sells with and stay until your managers run it themselves.
Do we need new software?
No. We build into the CRM and AI tools you already have.
How long does it take?
The diagnostic takes 30 days. Install timing depends on how many skills the evidence supports, and most work runs in 30 to 90 day sprints.
What does it cost to start?
The assessment is free. The diagnostic is $15,000 and credits in full toward your first install.
Do you work with PE firms across a portfolio?
Yes, and a lot of our work happens after an acquisition, when a company needs one sales motion across divisions or entities. We install company by company rather than by portfolio mandate, because installs only hold where the operating team wants them.
What if our leadership is not aligned yet?
Then say so on the fit call. The diagnostic measures that directly through the Buy-In Index, and we would rather show pathways to build consensus or pause than install something that will not hold.
